Amber colour. The nose combines aromas of fresh plums, jam and honey, with hints of kumquat emerging with aeration. On the palate this vintage is crisp and dynamic, at once delicate and intense, with a great length of flavor combining notes of fresh and caramelized fruit, white pepper and vanilla. Served at room temperature, the aromatic purity and intensity are exquisite. On its own or with a cigar.
Château du Tariquet, located in Gascony in the South West of France, belongs to the Grassa family since 1912. As “propriétaire-récoltant” (wine grower), all the Bas-Armagnacs from Château du Tariquet are made exclusively from grapes harvested from the family estate’s vineyards. The distillation takes place during the months of November and December in an authentic wood fired armagnac alambic using the traditional continuous distillation process. Each grape variety is distilled then aged separately for the first years in the hundred-year-old cellars of the estate which quietly safeguard 228-litre barrels or 400-litre “pieces”, as they are called. At Château du Tariquet, it is preferred to use barrels with a light toasting made from the French timber forests renowned for their fine grain. Afterwards, the blending of the “pieces”, and each grape variety, will finalise a long period of ageing and a meticulous selection. The savoir-faire of Château du Tariquet enhances each barrel’s characteristics, thus offering Bas-Armagnacs of great finesse and elegance.
